Camerata Wales

Camerata Wales was founded by Owain Arwel Hughes in 2005, with the core purpose of establishing a freelance orchestra of the highest international standard for Wales.
Members of the orchestra include many of the leading Welsh orchestral instrumentalists, a significant number of whom are highly prominent on the London and international orchestral scene
To date the orchestra has performed in some of the country's most prestigious performance venues, including St David's Hall, Cardiff; the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea; Cadogan Hall, The Queen Elizabeth Hall, and - at the invitation of HRH The Prince of Wales - at St James Palace, London.
The orchestra also maintains a close relationship with internationally renowned classical label BIS Records of Sweden, with whom the ensemble has already undertaken a number of highly successful recording projects. These recordings have received excellent critical acclaim and continue to amass a great deal of broadcast airtime, including that on leading UK national independent radio station Classic FM.
Camerata Wales remains thoroughly committed to the promotion and performance of British and particularly Welsh music, across the whole of the Welsh nation and beyond. Over the coming years, the orchestra seeks to further its reach and activities through the realisation of a series of exciting performance based projects, details of which can be found in the projects section of this site here
In January 2014, Camerata Wales became the recipient of a major award from the Arts Council of Wales, and throughout 2014 will focus on a significant digital media project focused on Welsh orchestral music together with our media and education partners. Further information on the Penblwyddi / Anniversaries project can be found here. In March 2014 Camerata Wales was also named the Official Orchestra of the University of Wales Trinity St. David
Camerata Wales looks forward to maintaining its commitment to the performance and promotion of the music of Wales, across the Welsh nation and beyond. Additional information on the orchestra can be found at Camerata Wales website www.cameratawales.weebly.com
